I think it is a very strategic and forward thinking move. Toys are and have always been entertainment products. I remember Bernie Loomis telling us at Kenner that you are in the entertainment business. Our products entertain children. They are in a better position to control their destiny if they are on the content and products side of entertainment.

Inevitable, and extremely insightful, unlike another company in a parallel industry - publishing. Barnes and Noble are under huge pressure from Amazon, but they had the chance to buy Goodreads.com, where 40% of book buying decisions are made. What an opportunity!

But no, they decided against it - didn't fit with their bricks and mortar model. WHAT? There's no fools like old fools. Amazon bought it instead and massively magnified their customer reach.
