Great article and so true. Reminds me of some of the case studies in business school. In addition to toys think sports of all kinds are losing their interest with many of the video game players who watch video game competitions in large arenas. Could one of those competitions supplant the Super Bowl or World Series in viewership in the not too distant future?

Very true. The “Leisure Industry” was how I positioned the toy business in my report to the TIA, as a consultant to them nearly 20 years ago.

We have this chain store Odyssey in India since 1995 and we call it Leisure Store. It sells books, toys, stationery, gift articles,music and movies. We have provided chairs in the store for customers to leisurly go through the merchandise. The customer can sit and read the book the entire day. One of the most successful stores in South India
