I couldn't agree more Richard. I fail to see the link between children showing interest in 'pots and pans' or 'toys with wheels' as proof of anything but society's investment in gender roles.

Furthermore, whether or not there may be small biological predispositions (and the jury is definitely still out on that one!) surely we should encourage exploration and skill development rather than making assumptions about predetermined interest, ability or trajectory of individual children!

By age 2 your childs personality is supposedly fully formed. My point being at age 9 months these children have already been encouraged pushed or given the toys they have gotten used to playing with. The boys have played with cars and girls with dolls.
