Amazon should buy Toys R Us, that would give them $11 million plus 1500 locations. This along with their on-line business would give them control of the Toy Ind.

Correction I meant $11 billion , that's with a"B"

Great article. I can still envision the store in the Larazus days when I first became a Toy inventor. Walking the aisles of my nearest Toys “R” Us in NYC was a good look at the entire toy industry. What a fantastic way that was to learn. Twelve years later when I joined Mattel I learned from my boss, Tom Kalinski, that walking those same aisles on late Christmas Eve was the way to get a good early look at the success stories of our empty shelves and, sadly, any carryover problems looming ahead for us.

For many years I have longed for the Toys “R” Us that carried EVERYTHING. It made going anywhere else to select that perfect Holiday gift for a child feel guilty. My Toy shopping experiences elsewhere were just not the same.

I think Richard is right! I too believe that a return to the “Toys “R” Us with EVERYTHING is the only way to succeed in today’s Toy retail environment. A good marketing tag line for this return to the Toys “R” Us of Yesterday is “Welcome Home”. That’s how I would feel every time I walked through the door.

Going online to shop for toys cannot ever compete with that unless you are looking for a specific toy.
