It is summer and our attention is drawn to outdoor play. If anything, slides, swings, jungle jims and other playground features are nothing if not great big toys. I recently wrote a piece entitled "Dangerous Playgrounds; are they a good idea?” After reading it, Charlotte Fixler, Communications Manager for ThinkFun sent me a piece she found entitled “America’s Coolest Playgrounds.” There were nine shown, here are the ones I liked:
The first one pictured is MonstroCity (see above) in St. Louis at the City Museum. The author, Sarah Weir, describes it as “post-apocalyptic.” I used to live in St. Louis and what I remember fondly was a playground that you could see from route 40 that contained the longest slide I have ever seen.

I remember going to the Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows with my grandfather when i was a kid and loved it. I took my friend's daughter there a few years ago and the playground you see above is a separate admission. It was a lot of fun for the kids.

Playgrounds are not only meant for playing and are designed in such a fashion where children as well as youngsters can play and spend their most special time.
